Album Info:Here are several photos that were taken by Mr. William D. Volkmer. Some of them are from duplicate 35mm color slides and postal cards that I've purchased, while others are images from the William E. Burket Collection.

Description:  Volkmer. Here is an original 35mm color slide by William D. Volkmer that was taken at the Roundhouse in Northumberland, Pennsylvania, on 9 April 1966. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5741, a G-5S (4-6-0) "Ten-Wheeler" built in Juniata during November of 1924 and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg.

PRR 6503, GF-25A, 1966
Title:  PRR 6503, GF-25A, 1966
Description:  Volkmer. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by William D. Volkmer that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 22 May 1966. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6503, #6512, and #6515. All are GF-25A's built by General Electric and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #6503 was constructed in April of 1965, while #6512 and #6515 were build in December of the same year. In this context, they're parked just East of the 12th Street Footbridge, awaiting their next helper/pusher run up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and back. The structure at the right is part of the PRR's 12th Street Car Shops. ("PrrFan18n")
