BN Lynden local behind 2091
Title:  BN Lynden local behind 2091
Description:  The BN took over the Milwaukee Road's Sumas to Lynden branch in 1980 with the rest of the line to Bellingham being abandoned. In its later days, the Milwaukee ran everything from GP9s and SD7s to U36Cs on this route. BN sufficed with whatever was assigned to Sumas as a switcher. Today it's GP38-2 2091, which has completed its morning duties at the border town and is on the old MILW rail as it heads for the Dutch-influenced village of Lynden.

This view looks to the northeast; the rails entered town from the southwest and ran along Railroad Stree past the two grain elevators to the south-oriented wye near the end of the tracks. The town's small airport was located close-by as well.
