Album Info:Caltrain operates one of the busiest commuter routes on the west coast. With up to a dozen trains an hour, there is lots of action. Added to the mix are trains from Amtrak, Altamont Corridor Express, and Union Pacific. This album includes photos throughout the second half of 2022.

New Electrics of Caltrain
Title:  New Electrics of Caltrain
Description:  Caltrains newest acquisition rests in the CEMOF yard north of San Jose Diridon. Caltrain 306 is a Stadler KISS, built by Stadler in Salt Lake City, Utah. These are Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) trainsets, each capable of 125 MPH. 306 is part of the first 6-car set delivered to Caltrain, and will enter regular service in 2024. The set has already undergone testing at San Jose Diridon. Also present is one of Caltrain's MP36PH-3Cs, the now-second newest members of the Caltrain fleet. Taken from Caltrain #118 southbound.

Title:  Coast Starlight Running 7 Hours Behind
Description:  Running over 7 hours late, the Coast Starlight slinks into San Jose Diridon just past 5 PM. The train lost over 6 hours of time in the Klamath Falls area, and has not made up any of it since. For perspective, the Coast Starlight is scheduled to be between San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara at 5 PM, while this train has not even left the Bay Area. P42DCs 39 and 10 lead the train.

UP Warm Springs Signals
Title:  UP Warm Springs Signals
Description:  Two signal masts sit dormant just off of Jackson Street in north San Jose. Jackson is one of the main thoroughfares through Japantown. The tracks pictured are the Union Pacific Warm Springs Subdivision, the secondary route betwen San Jose and Fremont. This was originally part of the Southern Pacific Warm Springs line, and ran through the middle of downtown San Jose to the south. The tracks were realigned in the 1930s, but the north end of the old line remained as the Warm Springs Sub. Todays line is only used by the occasional local freight from Milpitas, and as part of the lines downgrading, these signals have been deactivated.
