| Description: |
Through a narrow window framed by trees, I caught the southbound Amtrak Saluki on the former Illinois Central mainline as it crossed the former Wabash (now NS). Note the NS loco waiting for Amtrak to pass. To my surprise, it was one of the newer Siemens locomotive built in August of 2017. This unit carries the Illinois Department of Transporation reporting marks (IDTX) since the state of Illinois lead the consortium of states including Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, and Wisconsin that ordered these locomotives. |
