Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #780, an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata during October of 1914 and retired in July of 1948 after 34 years of faithful service. The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded.

Description:  Aziz. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in South Amboy, New Jersey, c. 1954. The photographer is not identified. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5348, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during May of 1918 and retired in October of 1956. Partially visible at the left is PRR engine #4741, a P-5A (2-C-2) electric built by Baldwin-General Electric in March of 1933, rated at 3,750 horsepower, and retired in October of 1964.

Description:  Aziz. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in South Amboy, New Jersey, c. 1956. The photographer is not identified. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4800, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built by General Electric as number "4899" during August of 1934, rated at 4,620 horsepower, renumbered "4800" in November of 1934, and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. This is "Old Rivets."

Description:  Aziz. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken just West of the 24th Street Bridge in Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1960. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5832 and another "Centipede" whose road number is not recorded. Both were built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as BP-60's for passenger service and rated at 3,000 horsepower each; both were later regeared for freight service and reclassified as BH-50's rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #5822 was built in February of 1948 and retired in April of 1962 after just 14 years of revenue service. In this context, they're serving as tail-end pushers for a freight train heading up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, where the pushers will be uncoupled and returned to East Altoona for further assignments. Partially visible at the left is PRR N-8 cabin car #478171.

All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9833 is an EFP-15 constructed in April of 1952. In this context, this A-B-A-A set is pulling a mixed-cargo freight train down the Buffalo Branch line to the Enola Yards.
