Album Info:A trip into the fall colors of West Virginia would not be complete without a steam engine ride. This trip we chose the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Rocket, an actual working Climax steam engine. Built to provide heavy hauling logs and ore in steep locations, approximately 1100 Climax locomotives were built by the Climax Manufacturing Co between 1888 and 1928. Only 20 have survived and of that, only 3 are still working. The Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Moore-Keppel #3 Climax is definitely one of the rarest working locomotives in the US!
