Title:
LIRR 358, DD-1, 1952
Description:
Prevosto. Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Modena, Pennsylvania, on 18 May 1952. Shown here is Long Island Rail Road engine #358, a DD-1 (2-B+B-2) electric built in Juniata and rated at 3,160 horsepower. Both units ~ originally numbered "13" ~ were built for the Pennsylvania Railroad in July of 1910 and sold to the LIRR in December of 1944. PRR "3960" became #358-A, while PRR "3961" became #358-B. Note that the main driving rods have been removed in preparation for scrapping.
