LIRR decided to honor some of their employees by putting their names on the sides of engine cabs. There were several engineers so honored, but one non operating employee was former presidnt Walter Schlager, whose name was on this plaque on GP38-2 277

Description:
LIRR 277, the Walter Schlager, leads an Oyster Bay train through the Forest Hills station. The signals at the west end of the station made for interesting watching. Aside from giving notice of impending moves, it was fun to watch them change positions.
