Poor quality photo with sever degradationa and staining but shows the Baldwin 2-8-2 Mikado sitting at an unidentified roundhouse, possibly Mount Clare in Baltimore, MD. The loco was built in May of 1911 as B&O #4063. Specs - serial #36536, Q-1 class, 64" drivers, 205 psi boiler pressure, 24x32" cylinders, engine weight of 276,050 lb, tractive effort of 50,184 lb. The last of the Q-1 class (160 member total) was retired in 1956. The date is approximate. Unknown photographer.

Because of the war, the B&O shops were forced to build this class Q-1aa in 1914. This locomotive sported a 64" driver, developed 190 psi, had an engine weight of 282,200 lbs and total engine+tender wheelbase of 71.84'. Max Miller was the original photographer.

Long before a GP40 wore the number 4209, this Baldwin 2-8-2 Mikado had the honor. Built in September of 1912 (serial #38414) filled in freight and passenger service during its career. It was rebuilt to the Q-1ba class in 1931. After nearly 39 years of service, the loco was retired and scrapped in the month of March, 1951, at the Mt Clare, MD yard. . Great action shot of what this 2-8-2 Mikado was built to do - handle long drags of freight cars! Built by Baldwin in October of 1922 as BO #4477 (serial #55774), it served for nearly 34 years before being scrapped at Mt Clare, MD yard in November of 1956. . Specs - Q-4 class, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine weight of 327,400 lb, tractive effort of 63,200 lb. Sadly, no date, location or photographer was listed for this photo.

BO 2-8-2 #4460 - Baltimore & Ohio
Description:
Here is a solid looking 2-8-2 Mikado caught standing outside the Glenwood Shops area in Philadelphia, PA. Built by Baldwin in December of 1922 as Baltimore & Ohio #4480 (serial #55869), it was versatile in freight and passenger service. Unfrotunately after nearly 35 years of service, it was retired and scrapped in August of 1957 at the Mt Clare yard in Baltimore, MD Just prior to retirement, the loco was assigned a new number #453 but probably was not actually renumbered before the scrapper's torch came calling. Specs - Q-4b class, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine wt of 327,400 lb, tractive effort of 63,200 lb. An unknown photogrpaher took this photo and no exact day in August of 1956 was given..
