Description:
The 1923 Alco-Richmond built Mikado lasted until 1954. Specs - serial #64841, 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" cylinders, engine weight of 326,000 lb, tractive effort of 62,949 lb. Loco #4800-04914 in the M-4 classp were scrapped between 1952-1954. The date on the front of the photo may be when this photo was taken at an unknown yard.

Extensive note on back says ""Southern Railways, Fregih, 1st #54 N-Bound, Engine 4869 2-8-2 near Mableton, GA - Crossing Nicajack Creek, 43 loads, 2 Mtys - 2163 tons, Engineer Caldwell, Fireman Dukes, Brakeman Sorrells, 12:17pm 5/26/46, 2nd Sect. was a diesel train." Unfortunately, the only piece of info missing is the name of the photographer that caught and described this shot! Built by Alco-Richmond in 1926 (serial #66071, class Ms-4)
