This coach-lounge looks like a Southern Railway car, except for the white number on a blue background. The car was built by Budd in 1949 as Southern 950 and was assigned an Amtrak number when that carrier began operating the CRESCENT on 1 February 1979, just ten days before this photo was taken. The car was on the northbound train at Meridian. It was eventually sold to Via Rail Canada and extensively rebuilt into coach 4110. |
