I was hoping to grab L421 on the bridge over Western Avenue, but we struck a friendly conversation with the CSX MTO at Connersville, and it departed during our chat. After chatting, I got a text from the conductor on the CVNR that they were headed up toward the interchange with the RMEX 4 and one of the Camp Chase GP9RMs. The RMEX 4 is the ex-MAW 4, a GP7u still wearing its ATSF bluebonnet scheme, and is currently the only operating locomotive on the CVNR. However, since the consist was a bit heavy to bring back, and the interchange between the CVNR and CSX is a bit steep, they needed a little extra weight, so one of the project units was added, which would make an already eye-popping consist even more mind blowing. We worked over to the CVNR, and sure enough the two units were slowly making their way toward the interchange. We grabbed our first shot at 18th Street. |
