Meanwhile, Gulf Mobile & Ohio Alco S2 No. 11 gathers head-end cars for spotting at the mail terminal (they'll go south tonight on the Advance Midnight Special to Saint Louis) as a GM&O E7 (visible immediately above SILVER SPOON's rooftop kitchen vents) awaits its next call to duty in GM&O's tiny Harrison St. yard. Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad E5 9910A, named SILVER SPEED, departing Union Station in Chicago, Illinois on August 21, 1949, photographer unknown, print by Willian A. Raia, Chuck Zeiler collectnon. Hand written on the back of the print is J. Scribbins, who may be the original photographer. The trailing E5B unit MAY be 9910B, named SILVER POWER, but I could not definitively make out the name. The following is from the Burlington Route!Historical Society's Burlington Bulletin No. 50, entitled, 'Overnight Every Night, Act 1: Burlington's 1936 Denver Zephyr", edited by Dave Lotz, who captioned this photo thusly:
