Ready to leave Mineral Point. In the late 1970s, the Milwaukee reduced service west of Monroe to once a week...out Saturday and back Sunday. The Mineral Point depot is the oldest in Wisconsin...built in 1856. It has been restored and is now an outstanding museum. The Mineral Point & Northern used the upper floor of the depot for dispatching and offices. The MP&N shared A turntable with the Milwaukee Road, but had their own 2 stall engine house! The turntable and the Milwaukee's 2 stall engine house were removed in the late 1950's. This train had an empty hopper pulled from Ivey Construction in Mineral Point and 3 empty fertilizer cars from Calamine. |
