A CN local crosses Towmen Rd. as it heads southwest via former SOO rails at Shawano Junction, WI on 10 Apr. '18. This spot used to be named Fox River Junction, after several segments of the original C&NW main line through Menasha and Neenah were removed and a turnout was installed here which allows the bypass of missing C&NW rails by using former SOO rails. The C&NW rails used to cross the road at this gate. Train was returning from Shawano. MillTown Paper, an active rail customer, is partially visible beyond the locomotive. The Essity, formerly SCA Tissue until 14 Jun. '17, warehouse (partially visible background left) has a spur, but does not currently benefit from rail service. |
