NKP 2-8-4 #769 - Nickel Plate Road         
This beautiful 2-8-4 Berkshire built by Lima in September of 1944 sits in a storage/scrap line (probably Chicago or Calumet, IL) with sister #753 at an unknown locaiton after serving the Nickel Plate for nearly 16 years. It was sold for scrap on January 29, 1962 to Purdy & Co. Specs - builder #8672, class S-2, 69" drivers, impressive 245 psi boiler pressure, 25x34" cylinders, engine weight of 428,500 lb, tractive effort of 64,135 lb. No date, location or photographer was listed for this photo.
