This was a view of the streetcar storage yard at the New Orleans Public Service’s CANAL STATION and BUS GARAGE in the 2900-block of Canal Street, as seen from Canal Street, and the cars which can be identified were the 946, 938 and 922. The two signs on the on the right read KEEP TROLLEY POLES OFF WIRES and KEEP DOORS CLOSED TILL CAR STOPS. The 946 and the 938 were both scrapped after the CANAL LINE was converted to buses in 1964, but the 922 was transferred to the ST. CHARLES LINE and is still around. (approximate date of photo) |
