Louisville & Nashville H-27 class 2-8-0 1279 was pulling a northbound transfer run over the main line in New Orleans, between the Industrial Canal drawbridge and the south end of GENTILLY YARD. At this time, the 1279 did not have Automatic Train Stop equipment, so it could not be used on the main line between Mobile and Gentilly. The locomotive had been built by the L&N at South Louisville Shops as serial number 115 in 1911 and was retired on 7 July 1953. (approximate date of photo) |
