Southern Pacific (Texas & New Orleans) M-10 class 2-6-0 460 was near the “end of the line” – both literally and figuratively – as it sat outside the railroad’s ALGIERS SHOPS, just across the Mississippi River from New Orleans on 3 October 1951. The locomotive had been built by Baldwin (37896) in June 1912 as T&NO 500, was renumbered 685 in December 1949 and then second 460 in May 1950. It was sold to Southern Scrap Metals Co. in New Orleans on 3 June 1952. |
