A CN local momentarily fouls Appleton St. while working in the former SOO yard at Menasha, WI, on 18 May '20. The facility at left is currently home to Alliance Industries, 313 Appleton St., they apply powder coatings and manufacture sand cores. Founded at Waupaca, WI in 1979, they leased the neighboring facility at 320 Appleton St. in 2005. They later purchased that facility as well as this one. I haven't found any relevant information about this structure, other than that it was built in 1960. The former MILW yard was located on the other (south) side of it. St. Mary's Church, with its ornate steeple, is partially visible to the right of the locomotive. The current church was built in 1883, but the congregation was organized in 1867. The gray building to the right, home of Drucks Plumbing and Heating Company, Inc., 314 Appleton St., was built upon the former MILW yard. The brown building beyond that, home of Menasha Employees Credit Union, 310 Appleton St., was as well. |
