Tom Beckett	General	These are interesting cars. They're lined with a special fire brick, as the temp of the molten steel is around 2700 degrees. Also, they have no brakes. The cars are so hot, they melt brake shoes-hence the spacers. They're not only there to spread weight, but to provide braking capacity. Great set on a now rare operation, that was once common not only in the Chicago area mill districts, but also in the Youngstown OH and Pittsburgh areas.	5/9/2021 4:50:35 AM
