| Here is another old time steam locomotive, Illinois Central 2-6-0 #2877 (serial #1796), built by the Hinkley Locomotive Works of Boston, MA., in December of 1888. It was originally numbered Illinois Central #421.The loco actually went through four renumberings before its retirement in July of 1929. They were from the original IC #421 to IC #509 in July of 1890, IC #877 in 1896, IC #1877 in May of 1904 and finally IC #2877 in May of 1917 as seen in this photo. Original specs - 56" drivers, 150 psi boiler pressure, 18x24" cylinders, modest engine weight of 100,00 lb and very modest tractive force of 17,547 lb. No exact date was given for this photo. R.H.
