I wanted to get a shot of the NYSW 3024 on WS-2 with the former Erie station in Riverdale, NJ 5/12/2023. This station was called Pompton by the Erie even though its in Riverdale, NJ. The Pompton Industrial is the last segment of the Former Erie/Erie Lackawanna west of Mountain View in Wayne, NJ. The last commuter trains ceased operating in 1966 and the former Greenwood Lake Branch, now called the Boonton Line was cut back from Wanaque/Midvale to Pomptonj Junction to serve Ber Plastics and to maintain the interchange with the NYSW even though the Erie Lackawanna interchanged cars at Passaic Junction, called PC on the NYSW and BT by the Erie. The NYSW/Delaware Otsego bought the track from Mountain View and Pompton Junction from Conrail in the late 1970s to early 1980s the last moves east of Morris Pipe was in the very early 1980s to haul pipe for a water line that was being built and to rescue some freight cars that were left behind after Conrail dumped the Greenwood Lake branch. Recently, the NYSW abandoned the line from RT23 to Mountain View. |
