Aug. 19, 1962." P&WV 40 is an AS-616 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in May of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, purchased by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1963 and renumbered "8114," then retired in September of 1967 after just 16 years of combined service. In this context, it's idling away near the 4th Street Footbridge and SOUTH Tower. The road number of the other locomotive pictured here is not recorded.
