NS 171, the only westbound road freight, was coming into the picture, and so was an eastbound coal train, but we still had a pretty decent wait ahead of us before either showed. Then, just by chance, we heard the defect detector on the Wheeling at Kidron go off. We made a mad dash south of town, and sure enough, the headlights of WE 221 were visible. We pulled off to the side of the road and grabbed the train crossing OH 57. Coke loads up front, followed by a short string of manifest on the back behind a pair of corporate painted SD40-2s. |
