Story time (read caption!)         
The Vancouver/Lake Yard transfer is seen screaming off the Columbia River bridge. Amtrak 1008 was getting set to depart from Portland and Vancouver Terminal was going to hold this guy until he went by. Vancouver Terminal tried multiple times to get in contact with the 1008 to find out if they were ready to go, but they wouldn't answer so he let the Transfer go, and they made a successful "run for it" to the B Yard! I've never seen a train go track speed by the Vancouver depot before!

Ron Moraca General Nice shot, Matt. That caption was funny to read, but it could've had serious consequences. That's what miscommunication'll get you, and odds are it would've been AMTRAK's fault if they and the BNSF GP38-2 had wrecked. 11/10/2007 2:07:24 AM
