PRR 5703, EP-22, 1965 |
Description: |
Brickyard. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train at the Brickyard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 18 July 1965. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #5703, #5862-B, and #5848. All were built by EMD. #5703 is an EP-22 built in 1952 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #5862-B and #5848 are EP-20's and rated at 2,000 horsepower each; #5862-B was built in 1948, but #5848 was built in 1947. They are pulling an 18-car eastbound passenger train and will soon stop at the Passenger Station in Altoona. At that point, not only will passengers exit and board the train, but both engine and train crews will change. |
