Description: |
Originally built for the predecessor Duluth, Missabe & Northern Rwy by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1916, it had 60" drivers and generated 188.5 psi for its 28"x32" cylinders. Engine weight was 342,000 lb and it could produce a tractive effort of 66,995 lb. In 1933, it was had an Elesco feedwater heater added. It was retired 1962 but survives today as a display at the Museum of Transportation in St Louis, MO. No photographer listed and the date is an approximation. |

Description: |
Originally built for the predecessor Duluth, Missabee & Northern Rwy, this 1919 Alco differs in several areas to its Baldwin built sister in this album. This had smaller 57" drivers but generated a larger pressure (200 psi) for its 27"x32" cylinders. The engine weight came in at 352,000 lb and it could produce a respectable tractive effort of 69,575 lb, greater than its Baldwin sister at 66,995 lb. The loco was retired and scrapped in 1963. No photographer listed and the date is an approximation. |
