Description:  This station is Topekas most historic! The Santa Fe also had a Harvey House in town, but it was torn down for a newer, smaller station built in the 1950s, leaving this as the sole example of Topekas large stations.

Great Overland Station

Description:  Abandoned in 1988 and severely damaged by fire in 1992, this station was bought by Railroad Heritage, Inc., and beautifully restored. Reopened in 2004, the station now houses a railroad museum, the Kansas Hall of Fame, and an event center.

(The three-day trip (minimal train pictures - sorry) detailed in (Not Another Travel Guide) North Central Oregon (not available from that A-South-American-River-Place... but pretty much everyone else should carry it.) If you're in Bend, it's worth the trip north a few miles north to the Peter S. Ogden State Scenic Overlook.
